About Seth Grossman
And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. -Anais Nin.
Welcome to my home on the web! My name is Seth Grossman, and I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida. As you look around my site, you may notice that I am different from many other psychologists. While many focus on correcting your latest symptom via manualized therapy, I am fully committed to finding the very best individualized approach for you that gets at the root difficulty of your concerns. This is because you are not a symptom or a disorder… you are a person who deserves to live your best life possible.
Sadly, much of modern treatment has forgotten this basic idea, but I consider this holistic, individualized approach to be the cornerstone of everything I do.
While the change you are seeking is ultimately for the better, you’re likely hesitant to undertake the journey. It’s understandable; change can be threatening, and you might be really uncomfortable with the idea that the habits and rationalizations you’ve used throughout your life to get by (those “defense mechanisms” that you both love and hate) may need anything from a small tweak to a full reworking.
But these are our human roadblocks. The effects of these can be subtle, like, “I really could be doing better,” or they can be devastating, keeping you in a rut or repeatedly confronting the same problems, year after year in just slightly different forms.
My commitment to you is to help you effectively and empathically target and relieve your personal roadblocks – big or small, obvious or subtle.
My life experience with my own roadblocks guides my sensitivity and helps create the vital conditions for you to discover how to “be comfortable being uncomfortable.” That may sound strange, but it’s how the very best therapeutic work happens. Your individual ways (your “personality”) sets the framework for how it is you struggle, and guides us in our work to find your ideal personal pathway to the resonant life you want and deserve. It’s never the same for two people, and your action plan should be your own.
I work with adults in individual, couples, and group therapy, in many cases, but my therapeutic work is largely focused on collaborative assessment, a state-of-the-art intervention and my premier offering. Imagine being able to figure out the most important questions you have of yourself, and then be able to answer them in a way that obliterates the blocks that have kept you going around in circles!
Collaborative, or “therapeutic” assessment is a very powerful, short-term intervention which blends the depth of inquiry possible only through psychological testing with interventions derived directly from the tests. This powerful method is known to be life-changing in a short number of sessions. While many people come referred through other therapists when therapy has reached a plateau or impasse (the method is very good at removing unseen obstacles that way), you may very well benefit from this as a brief but deep game changer. Please visit my collaborative assessment page for much more detail.
My hope is that whether or not you have been searching long and hard, or tried other therapists or other means to meet your needs, you will find your most effective pathway to your best life possible. I am here to help you achieve that.
